Governor distrusted and disliked by Democrats and Republicans
Is Pat Quinn a worse manager than Blagojevich? Many political insiders privately answer with a resounding yes, according to Republican Bill Brady, Quinn’s opponent in the November 2 mid-tern elections.

Brady’s remarks about Quinn came after he was asked about plans by two state agencies to purchase or lease new vehicles at a time when Quinn has directed state workers to cut costs.
“It seems like the governor has no clue to what the people we owe money to are dealing with back home,” Brady said. “I don’t think we’ve ever had fewer competencies in the governor’s office in my political career, except his former boss Rod Blagojevich.

The Illinois Housing Development Authority and the Illinois Department of Military Affairs each filed documents in recent weeks showing that they are looking to buy or lease new cars – despite the state’s $13 billion deficit.
After weeks of public denials to the contrary, Pat Quinn now admitted he long ago signed an eleventh hour, backroom deal with AFSCME, and the same union leaders expected to pour millions of dollars into his campaign.
“Pat Quinn has sold out the people of Illinois,” said Brady.
Quinn briefly served in the administration of Chicago Mayor Harold Washington as Revenue Director. He was later fired from that position. In a video filmed in 1987, on why he hired him, Washington said, “I was nuts to do it. I must have been blind or staggering. Pat Quinn is a very and completely undisciplined individual who thinks this government is nothing but a large easel by which he can do his (public relations) work. He almost created a shambles in that department”.
More?
A new report by Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes – a Democrat – showing the state’s record-level deficit may now reach an unprecedented $15 billion by next year proves our financial condition has gone from bad to worse under the tax and spend policies of Governor Pat Quinn.
“This report shows Illinois is moving in the wrong direction under Pat Quinn’s big government, tax and spend policies,” said Brady.
“While Governor Quinn continues spending our tax dollars on election year spending programs we can’t afford, this report shows a growing backlog of unpaid bills to vital service providers, and now an unprecedented $15 billion dollar deficit.”
“The Governor’s addiction to higher taxes and more spending shows Illinois won’t ever solve its fiscal crisis with Pat Quinn at the helm.”
Perhaps Quinn’s greatest accomplishment is that he served with three of the four Illinois Governors to be convicted on federal criminal charges: Dan Walker, Otto Kerner and Rod Blagojevich.
On January 29, 2009, Blagojevich was removed from office by a vote of 59-0 by the Illinois State Senate and Quinn was sworn in as Governor of Illinois.
Illinois deserves better.
