The new House Majority has made tremendous strides, altering the debate on Capitol Hill from whether or not we should cut spending to how much we should cut. It’s amazing how much can change in just a few short months.
Dear Neighbors:
It has been an exciting and challenging three months since I was sworn in as your Congressman. My main focus
has been putting our country back on track to fiscal solvency and making our government more efficient and effective. The American people have had to tighten their belts and learn to do more with less, the federal government should do the same. Just last month, it was reported that for every $1 brought in as tax revenue, $8 was spent. We can and must do better.

While creating a realistic, fact based budget is at the forefront of recent activities, I have not lost sight of the most important task of Congress – putting Americans back to work and creating an environment where the private sector can grow and thrive. I recently assembled a 10th District Jobs Task Force, composed of local business experts, and have been crisscrossing the district listening to job creators, financial institutions, educators and those seeking employment. I will be unveiling an ambitious 10th District Jobs plan within the month. As part of my Jobs Task Force agenda I am hosting a local Job Fair on April 21st which you are invited to attend. Please feel free to spread the word to any friends, family members or neighbors who may be interested.
I am proud to report that I have been working in a bipartisan manner to address key issues relating to the environment, small business and Israel. The first bill I introduced was to protect the Great Lakes with Congressman Dan Lipinski (D-IL). I also worked to eliminate a controversial section of the health care reform, commonly known as the 1099 provision, which would have burdened small businesses with an extraordinary amount of unnecessary paperwork.
Additionally, I worked with Congressman Gary Peters (D-MI) to protect foreign aid to Israel, our one true ally in the Middle East. I will continue my efforts to work in a bipartisan manner to build coalitions and seek common sense solutions and results for the 10th District.
I invite you to find us on Facebook to join the debate and discussion on current events or call my office at 847-940-0202 with questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Robert J. Dold
Member of Congress
