Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Nowhere in this country is the “art” of politics so abused, twisted, suborned and corrupted. Someday, historians will look at the Chicago Democratic Machine and compare it to New York City’s infamous and corrupt Tammany Hall, a Democratic machine that misruled and robbed the Big Apple blind. The Illinois primary is tomorrow. It is the state’s first step to the momentous 2012 November elections which will make or break this nation and seal the future for our children and their children.
ICE News is flabbergasted. Yep, confused, astounded; dirty tricks are going on in the Windy City! The City (Chicago) and country (Cook) governments, which have been held firmly in the grip of the Democrats since before most of were even born, is worried about a Republican running for office. William J. Kelly, a conservative MUST be stopped and the Democrats will stop at nothing to do it.
During election season, stories of voter fraud are endemic. But the strange saga of conservative William J. Kelly’s case in Chicago just might take the political cake.
Kelly, who is involved in a hotly contested race to become ward committeeman and Chairman of the Chicago Republican Party and whose bid to reenergize the GOP position in the longtime Democratic gulag has earned the support of Republican media, politicians, and strategist Dick Morris, discovered that his opponent was circulating what appeared to be a “copy” of his Chicago voting record. The problem is that this particular voting record contained an unusual number of “Ds.” Of course, “D” stands for Democrat.
Kelly is known for his reporting on mainstream media bias.
In 2011, he questioned U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin at a press conference and was angrily confronted by members of the Chicago media. The incident, captured on video, went viral.
Kelly has since earned a reputation in conservative media circles for his work at the American Spectator, Breitbart.com and at the Communities @Washington Times.
In 2010, Kelly ran statewide as a Republican for Illinois comptroller and was put under the political microscope. His colorful 20-year history of conservative activism is also chronicled in the documentary, “A Conservative in Chicago.”
The Chicago conservative has been endorsed in the race by Dick Morris, the well-known Fox News contributor and venerable political strategist.
Kelly says that he found out about the funny business to his record after his political opponent emailed the “certified copy” to a fellow conservative blogger back in February. However, in order to receive a “certified copy” of a voting record, it is necessary to file a FOIA request with the Chicago Board of Elections.
The problem is, according to Kelly’s attorney, no record of that FOIA request being made actually exists. If Kelly’s opponent never actually submitted a FOIA request for his certified voting record, what was his opponent circulating? And how did he receive it.
Counsel for Republican William J. Kelly issued a cease and desist letter to Tommy Smithburg for a false political mailer and internet news they have been circulating saying that Kelly is a Democrat.
Kelly’s opponent, Tommy Smithburg, whose family gives tens of thousands of dollars to Rahm Emanuel, Barack Obama, Dick Durbin and George Ryan, accused Kelly in the mailer of being a straight Democrat voter – a fact contradicted by the Chicago Board of Elections certified record. According to Kelly’s attorney, there is no record of anyone – Smithburg or his staff – or anyone else pulling a copy of Kelly’s certified voting record – which Kelly finds suspicious.
Consequently, Kelly’s attorney issued a cease and desist letter last Monday to Smithburg and his political advisors Jeremy Rose and Colin Corbett. Rose was forced to resign in disgrace as Executive Director of the Cook County Republican Party in a sex scandal involving young Republican females. Smithburg’s family money also “bought” him Republican endorsements despite that the twenty-three year-old has no record as a Republican or a conservative.
Despite obvious evidence to the contrary, Smithburg has continued to spread the lie about Kelly’s record and has not yet come forward to offer an apology or retraction.
Kelly says that he is “surprised but not shocked” by the situation. “This is Chicago, after all. Officially, the most corrupt city in America.”
Kelly has since filed a cease and desist letter against his opponent for defamation. He says he is willing to settle the claims in exchange for the reduced sum of $250,000 for actual damage to his reputation or the equivalent spent in political advertising to correct the false statements made.
In the meantime, with just days before the Illinois primary next week, Kelly is doing what he can to dispel any remaining confusion. “I always tell people to just Google ‘William J. Kelly conservative’ and that’s your answer.”
Kelly Outlines Platform for Chicago GOP Chairmanship, 42nd ward
Want to end one-party rule in the City of Chicago? Read on…
We need a real two-party city. Not a one-party city by default. We need a united Chicago Republican party. Not a party that casually accepts defeat over and over and over again. It won’t be easy. But in order to accomplish this, the new Chairman of the Chicago Republican Party and 42nd ward committeeman needs to be a proven fighter and leader.
As your new Chairman and committeeman, from Day One, I will:
1. Make sure that every Republican has a chance to be heard.
2. Form a strong Chicago GOP steering committee to slate strong GOP candidates for public office and recruit a new generation of committed, ethical leaders.
3. Recruit and aggressively support precinct captains and election judges.
4. Put an end to the infighting. If we all work together, we all can have a seat at the table. United, we win. Divided, we lose.
5. Have regular meetings and offer complete transparency. I will be accountable to you…always.
