Did Tammy Duckworth Duck ignore another Illinois 8th Congressional District debate to attend a New York City Fundraiser?’ It is not unusual for a candidate like Duckworth to avoid debating the issues directly in front of voters, but this year is too important for that. Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, Sen. Dick Durbin and the other Washington, DC insiders may have picked the winner of the Democrat Primary, but the voters will pick their next Congressman. This November’s election is the most important election in our country’s history and the voters of the Illinois 8th Congressional District deserve to hear from the two candidates directly.
Last Sunday, Illinois’ Republican Congressman Joe Walsh participated in the first in-district debate of the general election campaign. The debate, hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, attracted a crowd of 150 community members. According to Trinity Lutheran, Walsh’s opponent, Tammy Duckworth, declined to participate in a debate hosted by the church.

Congressman Walsh stated, “I was honored to address the members of Trinity Lutheran and applaud them for their engagement in their civic duty to be educated voters for this coming election. The issues facing voters this year are very important, and they deserve to learn where each candidate stands on those issues. It is for that reason, that I was disappointed that those in attendance were only able to hear one of the two visions for America in this campaign.”
Walsh continued, “Making myself accessible and my views clear to the people of the 8th district has always been a top priority for me. That is why I have hosted almost 200 town halls since coming to Congress. It is disappointing, but not surprising, that doing the same is not a priority for my opponent, Ms. Duckworth. She continuously ducks voters when it is time to
discuss the issues, yet she always has time to make national media or fundraising appearances. I was extremely disappointed to learn that the reason Ms. Duckworth once again ducked the voters, was to attend yet another New York elite fundraiser.”
Walsh concluded, “For the past two fundraising quarters, she has raised more money from California and New York individually than from within the 8th. You would think she would finally make time to make herself available to the people of the 8th, but it’s clear she wants to go for the three-peat this quarter. Trinity was the first in-district community to extend an invitations for us to debate, and it’s a shame she chose the elites and insiders over the folks of the 8th district.”
Background: Tammy Duckworth’s campaign stated she had declined to participate in the debate at Trinity Lutheran because she would be at a midday fundraiser in New York City hosted by Democrat New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The secret Tammy Duckworth does not want us to know is being ignored by the “mainstream” media: The same Kristen Gillibrand mentioned above, is an avid anti-Second Amendment partisan who is working quietly with New York extremist Sen. Chuck Schumer and Senators Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) to re-introduce the assault weapons ban which expired in 2004. No wonder Ms. Duckworth refuses to face Walsh in town Hall debates. Hunters, target shooters, citizens concerned with self-defense, and gun collectors beware. Electing Duckworth is another step in guaranteeing continued attacks on the 2nd Amendment and legislating new radical gun control legislation.
