Tomorrow the Supreme Court Looks at Obama’s Eligibility
The questions surrounding Barack Obama’s past never seem to stop: His birth country, his religion, education and even his Social Security card number. In a stunning move, the U.S. Supreme Court has scheduled another 
“conference” on a legal challenge to Obama’s eligibility to occupy the Oval Office, but officials there are not answering questions about whether two justices given their jobs by Obama will participate. Although Court proceedings are not public, it is believed that a case must earn four votes among the nine justices before it is heard.
Freshmen Republicans in Springfield
Individually, freshman legislators don’t have a lot of sway in the Democratic – controlled statehouse. The legislative leaders generally hold the power in Springfield, deciding what legislation moves forward and what dies. And yet, as a group, the newcomers are a substantial voting bloc. Whether they will flex their collective muscle to shape the budget only will become clear over time.

The Arab revolution has reached the tiny Gulf state of Bahrain, where Sunni rulers control a majority Shiite population. Since the 1990s, the United States has used Bahrain as a base for the Fifth Fleet, a military force for the Gulf region that currently consists of 6,100 marines and civilian personnel. The fleet is the core of Washington’s Iran containment policy. Will Obama allow this nation, too, to fall and forfeit our fleet’s foothold in the Arabian Gulf to Iran?

What’s the best way to get Americans back to work? Raise taxes, according to AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. Specifically, he wants to raise the federal gas tax as a means to fund infrastructure spending. “We need a dedicated source of revenue to create infrastructure in this country,” he says.
