Now that Mitt Romney is the GOP nominee, ICE News will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For our friends who are hesitating on that score, we’d just ask you to keep four things in mind: Justice Scalia just turned 78, Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year, Justice Breyer will be 76 in August, and Justice Ginsburg recently turned 81. I just thought of something the other day. Remember how you told me that you had a recurring dream in which you are the Dictator of a National Socialist Country? You sort of make a whimsical reference to it, but it occurred to me that this just might come true! Wouldn’t that be something! Even Michelle would have to give you a little respect. Our family is a bare bones operation. We cut out almost anything that wasn’t a need. We have only one car. Aside from Netflix we do not purchase entertainment (outings and vacations included). It can be a challenge to live paycheck to paycheck. This is not our preference, but when there isn’t another choice we do what we have to do. We avoid credit cards as much as possible. Topinka To Address Not-For-Profit Funding
Comptroller to highlight assistance for most vulnerable
Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka will meet with not-for-profit leaders and address state payments for their agencies during a series of stops around the state the week of July 29. The Illinois Has Heart tour will include stops in eleven Illinois communities. Topinka will meet with area not-for-profit leaders, employees and clients, make brief remarks regarding funding for service organizations and be available to media. (more…)
Kendall County (IL) Property Tax Revolt – Negotiating a Future
People ask why we chose 20% reduction in the county-wide levies. Simple answer – to get us back to where we were just 5 years ago. Think back to 5 years ago. You were working, enjoying life, and paying all your bills. Today it is quite different for many Kendall County citizens. The major difference? Costs on everything from food, to gasoline, to utilities, to taxes have increased exponentially. As I said in a previous BLOG, my property taxes have increased 50%! We must negotiate these costs lower. We buy generic food or cut back on electricity by turning off the lights when leaving a room to lowering the thermostat to save on heating bills. We can’t do that with our taxes except to try to negotiate a fair rate with the county. (more…)

Ron Paul’s Fed Audit Bill Passes House
Ron Paul’s revolutionary bill to audit the Federal Reserve passed the House of Representatives overwhelmingly by a vote of 327-98 on Wednesday afternoon. The bill received backing from all House Republicans but one (Representative Bob Turner of New York), as well as support from 89 Congressional Democrats. (more…)
