Border Patrol Effectiveness Not Measured By Amount Of Border Patrolled
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano is fond of claiming that U.S. border security is “better than ever.” However, a new (Feb. 13, 2013) Government Accountability Office (GAO) report that details how DHS quantifies how well the borders are guarded tells a different story. Interceptions of Immigrants Dangerously Low
Despite massive increases in manpower, the U.S. Border Patrol is still intercepting only about 61 percent of would-be illegal immigrants along the U.S.-Mexico border, according to an audit that the investigative arm of Congress released January 9. The findings, which for the first time show a broad estimate of how many illegal immigrants the Border Patrol fails to catch each year, emerge as pressure builds on Congress to move past border security and begin to grant legal status to the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. (more…)
Border Patrol Will No Longer Check Commercial Traffic at Borders
.S. Border Patrol cancels a productive operational tactic. Agency will no longer conduct routine checks of commercial transportation in border areas. NAFBPO notes editorially that aliens illegally in the United States now have one less reason to fear detection and removal. We call upon the Department of Homeland Security to live up to its name and rescind this change. (more…)
What is An Alien?
An important fact to remember is that any alien may be required to leave the United States, even forcibly if that is what it takes, but it is a legal process that has many of the same procedural safeguards as do criminal trials. (more…)
Border Patrol Will No Longer Conduct Routine Checks in Border Areas
Last month, in a quiet change of policy, the Department of Homeland Security’s Border Patrol issued an order to field units that routine transportation check operations were to be discontinued. Future operations of that nature must be what are described as “intelligence-driven.” The phrase “intelligence-driven” means that transportation check operations may now be conducted only if there is specific advance information that illegal aliens or drugs are likely to be found by the operation. Obama’s Henchmen are Getting Out of Hand
Exactly what are Barack Obama’s appointees thinking? And who do they think they’re working for? First it was Attorney General Eric Holder refusing to admit much less apologize for the Fast and Furious debacle in which a U.S. Border Patrol agent was murdered with a weapon Holder’s DOJ allowed to cross the border. Now, it’s acting National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Lafe Solomon joking (gleefully) that the NLRB’s suit against Boeing would kill jobs in South Carolina.
Rep. Walsh Reacts to Obama El Paso Speech
Congressman Joe Walsh (R-IL) today announced last week that he has sent a letter (attached) to President Obama, expressing his concern over the President’s comments in an immigration speech made in El Paso, TX. Once again, the freshman legislator is showing why Illinois voters voted for him.
Illegals and American Sovereignty
An Arizona sheriff says U.S. Border Patrol officials have repeatedly told him they have been ordered to reduce — at times even stop — arrests of illegal immigrants caught trying to cross the U.S. border. Is this how Barack Obama and the Democratic Party respond to the invasion of our country by illegal aliens?
America’s Third War: Our Southern Border
Without borders, we have nothing but chaos. Border Patrol agent Brian A. Terry, 40, was killed on Dec. 14 near Rio Rico, Arizona, according to a statement released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials. Is there a cover-up, encouraged by the White House, in which a policy of silence discourages questions about his murder?
Less than Half of US-Mexico Border is Secured, says GAO
Less than half of the United States’ porous southwest border with Mexico is under the operational control of the U.S. Border Patrol, according to the watchdog Government Accountability Office.
