Senate Kills off Ethanol Tax Credits
The Senate voted 73-27 Thursday to kill a major tax break that benefits the ethanol industry, handing a political win to a bipartisan group of lawmakers that call the incentive needless and expensive. Does anyone even have to guess how liberal Illinois Senator and Majority Whip Dick Durbin voted? No, Nein, Nada. There has never been a tax increase or a subsidy to ensure political support that Mr. Durbin didn’t support.
The Hidden Cost of Ethanol Subsidies
By mandating 40% of our corn crop be dedicated to ethanol, we’ve created domestic shortages that may turn the U.S. into a net importer of corn and destroy our dominance in one more area of the world economy. This is likely to be hard on food prices at a time when they are already going up. In an attempt to appease environmentalists — for whom nothing is ever enough — we risk mandating ourselves right out of dominance in one more area of the world economy. (more…)
The Next Time You Fill Up, Blame Barack, Reid, Durbin and Pelosi
Gas prices are high because the Liberals want it that way! Numerous pronouncements in the past from the president and leading Democrats show that high fuel prices aren’t an accident, they’re just part of the PLAN. (more…)
Will the Government’s Insatiable Appetite for our Money Ever be Satisfied
Can politicians and government bureaucrats ever have enough money to spend? Is it possible they will ever reach the point where they accept the American people are so burdened by taxation they – people – will rise up and cast them all out? Forgetaboutit!
Video: Rep. Dold (IL 10) Takes Obama to Task on Gas Prices
Whether it is individuals at the pump filling up their car or businesses paying higher transportation costs, rising gas prices hurt economic growth. Please click below to watch my interview on the Huckabee show where I discuss my four point energy plan to address the rising cost of gas.
Thanks to Barack and the Left, Gas Prices are Still Rising
Unfortunately for now-President Obama, the reality of $4-$5-a-gallon gasoline is a much tougher sell to the general public. He’s put himself to work spinning the line that “speculators” are at fault for high prices, but the actual explanation is far more matter-of-fact. No new wells are being drilled and no new refineries have been built in decades. Gas prices have gone up 67 Percent since Barack Obama became president. That’s compared to a 7 percent increase under Bush in his first 26 months. That’s something even a community organizer should be able to understand it.
Obama’s Vision: Make More Ethanol
The Department of Agriculture will soon be helping gasoline stations install new pumps that can dispense fuel with higher ethanol content, according to USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack. The USDA will offer grants and loan guarantees for the installation of costly new “blender pumps” so drivers can purchase fuel with a higher ratio of corn-based ethanol. Opponents charge program will increase food costs.
The Real Reasons the Media is Hiding Rise in Gas Prices
The main reason is that they’re covering their own butts. The second reason is they’re covering Barack Obama’s butt. Remember the summers of 2007 and 2008? People we chanting “drill, baby, drill” in response to rising gasoline costs. The Democrats were in trouble and Barack’s chances of being our first black president look chancy at best. So stories about long gas lines and gas shortages slowly disappeared from newspapers and television. Why? They wanted the Republicans out and Barack in!
