Just days after the release of a video showing 62-year-old shopkeeper Luis Quizhpe fending off two armed assailants in his store with a baseball bat, former Congressman Joe Walsh took to the radio airwaves, declaring that it’s time for Chicagoans to stop being victims, regardless of the current laws. The man many in this state consider to be the face of conservatism in Illinois has returned from Washington after participating last week in the “Fiscal Cliff” debacle in the U.S. House of Representatives. It comes as no surprise to anyone who knows Joe Walsh that he voted NO. Walsh returns not as congressman of the 8th Congressional District, but as a ‘regular’ citizen after losing his seat to Tammy Duckworth, the hand-picked choice of Barack Obama, Rahm Emanuel, Dick Durbin for Congress after they gerrymandered a district demographically drawn for her. Congressman Joe Walsh (IL-08) renewed his call for Washington to bring accountability to the Middle East and make U.S. aid to the Palestinians and Egypt contingent on peace and reform.
