Pat Quinn
Illinois and Financial Solvency Don’t Coexist
After trying to tax Illinois to governmental solvency and economic dynamism, Democrat Pat Quinn, who has been governor since 2009, now says “our rendezvous with reality has arrived.” That thought should send shivers up the spine of every Illinoisan. (more…)
Roskam Takes Aim at Gov. Quinn’s Fiscal Policies
As Gov. Pat Quinn gives his State of the State Address later today (yesterday), it’s important to consider this past year’s record. The last year has served as a crystal clear example that tax increases did not help Illinois’ economy nor did it help our worsening fiscal crisis.
IL. Gov. Pat Quinn Poll Numbers Dismal
Last November the people of Illinois (supposedly) chose Democrat Pat Quinn to be the governor of their state. Counting ballots in Illinois– at least in important elections – is subjective to say the least. Therefore, once the state election board omits military ballots (they do this every election) and manipulates voting machines, the people ofIllinois do not really know who actually won an election. Maybe Republican Bill Brady actually did win?*
Big Brother Has His Eye on Back Seat Passengers
Legislation on Gov. Pat Quinn’s desk would require people in the back seat of a car to wear a seat belt. Once again, the people we vote into office to protect and represent us are instead telling us “what’s good for us” whether we agree or not. (more…)
We said it Would Happen: Redistricting Wars Have started in Illinois
The June, 2 issue of Ice News alerted you to the Left’s plans (Illinois Democrats) to gerrymander the state’s congressional districts to guarantee they keep their iron grip on the state of Illinois. Well, they’re at it and if they succeed, Illinois conservatives could be in big trouble. Joe Walsh, a political unknown who narrowly defeated Democrat Melissa Bean in 2010, no longer resides in this district, and about two-thirds of his old district has been moved to the 6th. This is what we get for not winning the governorship in the midterms. (more…)
Topinka Rolls the Dice: A Meeting of the Minds with Quinn?
A Chicago casino has been discussed for years, and Topinka has backed it before. The idea is getting another round of attention because new Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel supports it. (more…)
Illinois House Passes Bill to Bar Release of FOID Info
State Republicans stood up for Second Amendment rights. Names of gun owners would remain private under a bill passed by the Illinois House on Friday. The Illinois Supreme court then gave out-of-stater’s a break when it said they do not need a FOID card if they travel in Illinois with their guns.
The Deficit: What they’re Not telling us
Tsunami. earthquakes and a nuclear meltdown. Tunisia. Egypt. Libya – the news is full of emergencies overseas. As bad as they are, these foreign-born events have distracted Americans from a dire emergency right here at home, right in our midst. In towns across America, our families, our friends our neighbors and our fellow Americans are faced with bankruptcies, foreclosures, unemployment and homelessness.
We’re Proud to be Conservatives. Are You?
As the 2012 election heats up, Ice News is working hard to continue building the momentum in favor of the conservative cause. We’ve also had our hands full as decisive fiscal issues have popped up across the state and the country.
Quinn Again Looking to Relieve You of Your $$$
Illinois residents have been avoiding the taxman for years by shopping online, a strategy that will become harder under a new law that requires online merchants to collect sales tax on purchases made through business partner based in the state. House Bill 3659, the Mainstreet Fairness Bill, was passed by the state’s lame duck legislature in early January. Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to have your pockets picked. Once again.
