Illinois’ Dold Making a Name for Himself
I believe that we here in Washington have a responsibility to govern. From day one, I have been working to build support for a bold, bipartisan plan to raise the debt ceiling that can be enacted into law. I believe that nothing is accomplished in Washingtonunless you reach across the aisle and work together for the benefit of the American people. The debt ceiling must ultimately be raised, and I have voted twice on bills that would raise the debt ceiling while reforming the way Washingtonspends money – we need to address our skyrocketing debt. While the work is far from over I think it is important that Americameet its obligations and work on a comprehensive plan to reform Washington’s out-of-control spending – we have no other choice. Another Illinois Freshman Republican Stands Tall
Rep. Robert Dold (R-10) publicly rejected his healthcare benefits as a member of Congress before the House voted to repeal healthcare reform. Dold said during a speech on the House floor on last week that he rejects the healthcare plan to which he is entitled as a member of Congress.
“We have an opportunity here, an opportunity for real reform. We want that, we need that, the American people have demanded it. From American businesses and people all from the other side that said we came and had healthcare reform, I did not take the congressional plan.”
