Teachers Feel Bad – Taxpayers Disgusted
A couple weeks ago I attended Representative Daniel Biss (D-17) town hall in Skokie. The stated purpose of this meeting was to discuss the proposal for cost shifting of FUTURE teacher pension contributions from the state to local school districts. Rep. Biss brought in a panel of experts including Erika Lindley (ED-RED), Dick Ingram – Teachers Retirement System (TRS) and Louis Kasiba – Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). (more…)

In 2008, unions spent $400 million-plus to elect Barack Obama; in 2010, 94% of union political contributions went to the Democratic Party; in 2012, union leaders say they will spend at least $400 million on national, state and local elections. Trade unions have been prominent in the news lately. Their thuggery in several of our states has made far more people skeptical of them—especially when articulate Republican governors’ stand up and fight back. Unfortunately many conservatives, especially those mis-educated by members of the Teachers Unions in government schools, think that unions are (or were) a good thing that has been abused. That is hardly the case.

The biggest myth about labor unions is that unions are for the workers – NOT! Maybe fifty years ago they were. Now, unions are for unions, just as corporations are for corporations and, the best example I can think of – politicians are for politicians.
